Imagine that you have made one of our new canvases your own. What do you do next? You might dive into your stash and stitch books. You might make an appointment to work with us to choose threads and stitches. The “together” aspect of this process is essential, however, because thread, color, and stitch choices are highly personal. While we might make suggestions, the decisions are yours. Identical canvases stitched by two stitchers can yield dramatically different finished pieces, with each piece reflecting the artistic preferences of its stitcher. Because hard and fast rules about choosing threads and stitches do not exist, we have decided to write a series of pieces sharing what we keep in mind as we choose threads and stitches for a new canvas. Our first piece begins generally, with the things we would like to keep in mind as we go. Our intention is to follow this initial piece with a series considering specific possibilities: threads, stitches, and stitching order. Our ultimate goal is to equip you to make the decisions that will make your finished canvas uniquely yours.
