Dear Friends,

I hope that this newsletter marks the beginning of a year that will bring you peace and contentment. Whether or not you believe in new year’s resolutions, a new year is an invitation to take stock and make fresh starts. The goal-oriented among us might already be planning next year’s finishes - how we might take advantage of our stashes and complete projects in time to have them finished for next year’s holiday season. Others of us are thinking about making organizational fresh starts, pruning our stashes and gathering new bags and boxes to store our needlepoint supplies. A few of us might be making lists of techniques, stitches, and threads we would like to try - maybe classes we would like to take. Whatever your goals, we hope that after the hustle and bustle of the holidays, you are settling in to a relaxing respite of selfish stitching.

At the shop, we too have been thinking about how we might take advantage of the blank canvas that a new year offers. We have made our own list of goals and ideas - new threads, canvases, classes, techniques and tips. We would love to hear your ideas. Carol Curtis Trunk Show

We are excited to share that we are currently hosting a trunk show of Carol Curtis’s stunning canvases. Many of you have seen the handful of Carol’s canvases that we have had in the shop, and a fortunate few of you have already made one your own. If you have seen Carol’s canvases you know that they are stitch-painted watercolor works of art, inviting the stitcher to use a painter’s palette of threads.

Carol’s canvases are distinguished not only by their beauty, but also by their affordability. Keeping the stitcher in mind, Carol keeps her prices low so that more of us can experience the beauty of her canvases.

In celebration of the trunk show, we are offering a 10% discount on Carol’s canvases. While we cannot discount Carol’s canvases further, we would like to offer you a 10% discount on the threads you purchase to complete a canvas purchased during the trunk show. The trunk show will continue through February 1.

Carol Curtis’s canvases invite us to stretch our stitching muscles by experimenting with an abundance of color. Carol doesn’t shy away from the complexity of color found in nature, and we urge you to embrace that complexity as well - it is what makes Carol’s canvases special. We have had opportunities to select threads for a few of Carol’s canvases and will be happy to help you select threads and create a stitching plan. One way to approach one of Carol’s canvases is to emulate the sequence of her design process, which you can find illustrated here.
